The Middle East Energy Awards to honour the best logistics service providers

he energy industry supply chain is transforming rapidly as global challenges add pressure on the industry players to improve their efficiency and end-to-end supply chain. Against this backdrop, a new set of technological advancements, known as ‘Supply Chain 4.0’, is influencing how organisations oversee their logistics, procure materials, and generate value. The move towards greater digitalisation is transforming energy industry supply chains, creating new opportunities to make them more agile, resilient, faster and efficient.

In line with the regional aspirations to position the Arabian Gulf region among the top logistics hubs globally, future GCC governments’ visions and long-term initiatives have been launched with the objective to transform the supply chain landscape in the region.

It is worth mentioning here the outcome of the 11th edition of the Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA) Supply Chain Conference held during 15-17 April 2019 at the InterContinental Festival City Hotel, Dubai, UAE. According to the speakers at the conference, the chemical industry in the Arabian Gulf must ensure its readiness to face the growing rate of supply chain digitalisation, which will lead to continuous disruptions and create new challenges and opportunities for regional producers to adapt to and respond to a new market reality.

In the energy industry, the processed natural gas and oil products need to be transported to different places where it is sold, used, or redistributed, using the conventional methods like trucks, railways, ships, and pipelines. The same applies to petrochemical manufacturing industry as well.

The products created by the energy industry are products nearly everyone in the society will come into contact on daily basis, without which the quality of life would be drastically different for everyone. This is why the logistics, terminals and storage for the energy industry are so important in deciding the economic progress of every nation.

Introduced in 2017, the winner of the 2018 ‘Logistics Service Provider of the Year’ Award was Tristar Transport from United Arab Emirates. Tristar Transport was selected winner for its commitment to meet and exceed all statutory and regulatory requirements on HSE performance.

This award means a lot to a company like Tristar, which is actively participating in all logistics and supply chain activities. Today, Tristar is largely focused on oil and gas supply chain requirements. We have recently won a contract from ADNOC for the supply of petrochemicals in this region for the next five years.Shivananda Baikady (right), general manager for road transport and warehousing, Tristar Group, who received the ‘Logistics Service Provider of the Year’ Award on behalf of Tristar Transport, said: “This award means a lot to a company like Tristar, which is actively participating in all logistics and supply chain activities. The ‘highly commended’ nomination in this category for 2018 was RSA Talke for its dedicated efforts towards health, safety and the environment.

With 16 prestigious awards to be bestowed on the best in the industry, the Middle East Energy Awards ceremony is slated for 18 September 2019, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The ‘Logistics Service Provider of the Year’ Award winner will be decided based on the innovations and value creation offered by the service provider.
